Before Susan Grzesiak decided to pursue her career as a therapist, she worked many years as a cardiology technician. Part of her responsibility was to obtain a family history from her patients. The stories that she heard intrigued her, and she developed a keen curiosity about stress, and how it played such a major role in heart disease. Soon after this realization took place, she made the decision to become a therapist. Susan obtained a Bachelor’s of Social Work from University of Detroit. She was very involved at school; president of the addictions board, and secretary of the social work club. Once she had earned one degree, she moved onto Wayne State to achieve her Master’s of Social Work. Her main training was working with mental illness and mental disorders. Susan spent fifteen years as a therapist at Common Ground, gaining experience in working with couples, families, and individuals. Also required throughout the years, she learned Love and Logic Parenting Techniques.
“I am fortunate enough to have obtained the knowledge to help people with their daily life struggles, helping them develop healthy cognitive patterns and beliefs about themselves, and striking a balance between unwavering centeredness and compassionate flexibility.”
Susan can be contacted at Pioneer Counseling Center, Mondays through Thursdays from 9AM – 8PM. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, please call our Clinton Township office at: -(586) 263-1234.
